VWO, HAVO or MBO diploma
You can enrol in the first year of the full-time or part-time Bachelor of Dance in Education programme if you have a Dutch VWO, HAVO or MBO (management or specialist training) diploma or an equivalent foreign diploma. In addition to these admission requirements, we have set up an assessment procedure.
The Bachelor of Dance in Education programme uses an individual assessment procedure. It consists of an interview and a special session, in which applicants are tested on agility, previous training and general knowledge, and are invited to share their interest in, and experience with, classical music. In addition, we assess your motivation and your interest in culture, educational science, anthroposophy and health, in so far as these aspects may be relevant to practicing eurhythmy.
21+ entry assessment
If you do not have one of the diplomas referred to above, yet are over the age of 21, you may apply for a separate prior education assessment.
Students from a career background
Students who have completed other eurhythmy training and hold a position in the field, may obtain their Bachelor degree in Dance in Education in one year. A special programme has been designed for this purpose. Students in the special programme attend a total of 10 weeks of tutorials. In addition, these students are counselled with regard to their current position. Upon completion of the programme, they receive the official Bachelor diploma. Eurhythmy graduates who wish to take extra training regarding certain aspects of their profession, may enrol for one or several courses.
Gift for languages
The language of instruction is Dutch. Students who do not speak Dutch are expected to make every effort to become sufficiently proficient in the Dutch language. A fair command of German and/or English is required as well. For some presentations and papers, students get to choose between German and English.
Studying with functional limitations
‘Functional limitations’ refer to all disorders that are chronic by nature and that may result in study delay, for instance motor or sensory disabilities, mental handicaps, speech impediments, dyslexia or dyscalculia, autism spectrum disorder, or ADD or ADHD. The department offers supporting facilities, such as extra time in exams. For further information, please go to hsleiden.nl/studentenvoorzieningen/decaan.
